Blantyre's largest township, below Ndirande Mountain, and one of the busiest property markets in the country by volume if not by value. Almost all of it is rooms and modest houses, transacted quickly and usually directly between owner and tenant.
About Blantyre
Malawi's commercial capital and its oldest city. Unlike Lilongwe, Blantyre goes by named suburbs, and the names carry a lot of information about price: the ridge suburbs above the city — Namiwawa, Nyambadwe, Sunnyside, Kabula — are the established, expensive addresses, while Ndirande, Bangwe, Chilomoni and Chirimba are the big, dense, affordable townships. Limbe is a second commercial centre in its own right.
