About Blantyre
Malawi's commercial capital and its oldest city. Unlike Lilongwe, Blantyre goes by named suburbs, and the names carry a lot of information about price: the ridge suburbs above the city — Namiwawa, Nyambadwe, Sunnyside, Kabula — are the established, expensive addresses, while Ndirande, Bangwe, Chilomoni and Chirimba are the big, dense, affordable townships. Limbe is a second commercial centre in its own right.
