One of the older Lilongwe areas, close to Old Town and the Lilongwe River. Mostly established houses on generous plots, many of them former Malawi Housing Corporation stock that has since been bought out and extended. Convenient rather than smart, and priced accordingly.
Malawi's capital and its biggest property market. Lilongwe is organised into numbered Areas rather than named suburbs, which is why almost every local search is for a number — Area 47, Area 49, Area 43. Broadly, the low numbers and Old Town are the older, denser, cheaper side of the city; the high numbers to the north and east are where the newer walled houses and the remaining serviced plots are. City Centre is offices and institutions rather than homes.
